2001 Trooper vs 2001 Patrol
I have a friend who has both. Sabi niya, ang trooper "swabe", ang patrol, "brusko" ang sakay. Any comment on the two SUVs? Which would you prefer?

Kung non 4x4s, i'd go with the Trooper. Kicks the patrol's behind, in terms of engine power. Kaya lang mukhang ang daming issues with maintenance.
Kung 4x4, i'd go with the Patrol. Im sure the others will elaborate on why.

Both 2001 models came out as 4x2 models, which will be used only on roads. IFS setups beat the solid diffs in any occassion when driving and passenger comfort is tackled.

i also had a similar problem 2 years ago when choosing which one to buy. I ended up with the patrol because:
even though the ride wasn't as good, changing the shocks was enough to compensate.
the patrol apparently has more power: before buying, test drive ko yun patrol against a friend's trooper sa skyway, naiwan yun trooper.
heard problems on maintenance of trooper.
reputation for durability of patrol.
i liked the look of the patrol.

For onroad use, the Trooper is a better choice. The two are not really direct competitors. Trooper is a midsize SUV while the Patrol is a fullsize SUV.
Solid front vs. IFS din sila.

The Patrol i think is heavier than the Trooper so it does have a lag from standstill w/ the a/t model... or so i heard. However, once you get a moving... 160kph is an easy target. Given the choice, i'd go with the Patrol because of its proven platform and reliability (but hey Isuzus are reliable as well), maintainance (i've heard issues with Isuzu dealerships), and i think this will keep it value longer than a Trooper.

Mas mabigat pala ang Trooper by 300lbs over the Patrol!!!! Plus its engine makes 14NM more torque. No wonder the Patrol is faster.....
