Default Compact SUV Comparo!

mga peeps,

can you help me decide what's a better buy?

can you rate them with these factors...

1. can be used in floods (coz i heard that a rav4 and cr-v has a car chassis)
2. fuel efficiency
3. ride quality

hoping for your help!!! thanks!!!

well firstly, all of these compact SUVs are largely based off car platforms, with the exception of the grand vitara. that said, all of them should be able to deal safely with moderate floods (maybe about 15 inches high at most)

better rule out the CR-V if you're after a comfortable ride... the ride of our gen2 CR-V is ultra-firm, and so are the seat cushions. although HCPI may bring in less-bouncy, 5-seater CR-Vs soon.

Yung Xtrail ba parehas lang ng Xterra?

Among the choices, kung nasa Pinas ako I would choose the RAV4

x-trail is a unibody compact SUV with IFS/IRS and a part-time 4wd system with an automatically-engaging rear axle providing full-time 4wd functionality (a setup similar to the Escape/Tribute).

the top variant has a 2.5L engine with 180 hp (i suppose it's the same unit as in the hot-rod Sentra over there)... lesser X-Trails make do with a 150 hp 2.0L engine with either 4wd or fwd....

There's a comparo article on the Escape, CRV, and RAV4 at motioncars.com . Check out the archives section. The front page article is a review of the Xtrail, check it out too...

--kaya ng ford escape ko 2 feet high na tubig..kaya din sigurado ng iba yan..

2. fuel efficiency
--lahat sila malakas lumklak ng gas..x-trail na lang para solb sa makina..

3. ride quality
--ford escape...blingbling..hehe..
--vitara..great for off-roading..

c) Escape
d) X-Trail
e) CRV.

i might be a bit biased, ok?

looks? hands down on the rav4... both interior and exterior

fuel efficiency? am currently doing 8-9km/L on my rav4 and it has a full-time 4wd!

off-roading capabilities? vitara!

engine? x-trail 250x. 180hp on a compact SUV? that's mean...

price? cr-v

since same price range, consider d ford everest.advantage over d oders?its a real 7seater,Turbo diesel, price (plus, a reviewer from d inquirer said d ride wasnt bad at all, far from wat he expected from a car built on d same platform as d ranger). a rav4 isnt a bad choice either if space isnt much of an issue 4 u (owned 1 b4 & was very happy w/ it but outgrew it). ford seems underpowered but well-built. CRV is gr8 value 4 ur money but u'd be driving wat most odr guys r driving,it being d best selling 'cute-ute' in town

for me its either the

Xtrail - nice power
CRV - super dami na dto pero IMO i like it inside and out... tahimik yun 2.0 litre engine, nice radio
RAV - medyo maliit... pero i heard its the best in the small SUV category

Thanks for the replies!!!

i have narrowed down my choices, it's either the rav4 or the escape...

coz i really don't need space, it's always just me and my girl riding naman e...what m really after is the ride comfort and the SUV's capability to be driven in high floods, sobra magbaha dito sa amin e...

kiper,

how comfomtable is the ride of the escape? kasi naka-sakay na ako sa rav4 at ok naman ang ride pero sabi dun sa article ng motioncars.com, rav4 has the worst ride...

thanks again!!!
