need Help: 96-97Honda Civic Vti Vs. 96 Accord (any type) with 300k budget
Dear All,
Recently i just narrowed down my Vehicle of Choice to Honda Civic Vti (96-97) but now am a bit confuse as my friend told me that with the same budget i could also buy an Accord which has more leg room... i wonder whats the difference between this two?
i found out that there are more Civics out there than Accord...and why? ano kaya mas okey sa dalawa in terms of
1.less fuel consumption, or fuel efficiency
2.spacious, gud looks,
3.easy to dress up,
4. reliabilty
5. parts
ano pa nga ba?
am dying to hear more from you guys...please,please,please help me out here, whew :o buti na lang i still have ample time to come up with some queries, sa Dec. pa naman ako bibili...
thanking you all again...

fuel consumption, definitely, mas malakas ang accord. 2000 cc engine displacement vs. 1600 cc.
spacious and good looks depends. mas spacious ang accord kasi mas malaki. good looks? accord caters to the higher class market while civic, from mid class to lower high class market. depende na sa yo yan. ako, i prefer an accord over the civic pagdating sa looks.
easy to dress up. definitely civic. pero i have seen dressed up accords too.
reliability. i think quits lang. both are quite reliable.
parts, i also think quits lang. both are hondas.
maintenance, i think mas mahal lang ng konti ang accord.
resale value, as stated above, iba ang market ng accord sa civic so mas mataas resale value ng accord. example: the price of a 1994 accord can only be equal to the price of a 1997 civic.
yup, tama si happy_gilmore, mas ok ang civic in terms of fuel consumption. mas mrami ka pang pwede i modify kung bibihisan mo auto mo. i vote for the civic.
the accord has a more powerful engine with a meatier power band, a more pleasant interior (especially those with OEM leather interiors), smarter styling, much better refinement, and a bit more room inside.
between a '97 civic and a '96 accord, my choice would easily be the accord, unless fuel economy is a concern (around 5.5 to 6.0 km/L for our '96 accord A/T)
dressed-up civics are a dime a dozen... it's easy to dress up an accord and more people would notice (if you go for this sort of thing)
however, be advised that parts for accords are VERY expensive (especially if you don't know where to source affordable parts)
I'd also go with MBT's choice... the Accord. You cna get a '96-97 Accord at the P320-400K range, depending on the condition and model range. Parts can be expensive but if you have the time to look around and build sources (and have some luck as i have found out before ), it can be quite affordable.
I got my Lolo's badly beat-up '96 Accord (no thanks to their driver) a few months ago and fixed it up... The cost was around 50-60K for the suspension, engine, and body repairs...
Take your time to look around for a good car.. who knows what deal may land on your lap.
I've driven both. If you're not really a racer or want something practical, ok ang Accord. It's a 'mom-and-pop' car sa US so its pretty average. Fuel consumption is higher than a Civic's but I guess one can live with it.
You get more room, more space and since the Accord is higher up in the Honda food chain, it also benefits from richer looking materials which also seem more durable than the resins used in the Civic.

kahit accord pa yan which is 5 yrs old na..
tama at least around 350-400k you might be able to get an accord na 2.2vti na yung engine. the 2.2 vtec engine in the accord is much better, response and everything plus usually leather na loob, may cd changer na.
meron kami 95 accord manual and 96 civic AT. we sold our accord 3 months ago for only 250. kung mamimili ako ganda ng ride ng accord kaysa civic. sarap pa sa coastal ng manual acord adrenalin rush. accord gets my vote gas lang talaga, pero its worth it.

Accords are generally more expensive than Civics of the same year model. My dad's Civic VTi & my uncle's Accord EXi were both purchased in June 1996. According to our insurance policy, the assessed value of our Civic is around P330k while my uncle's Accord is P410k. I've driven both cars in the city and on the highway. The Accord has a better ride, smoother and stronger acceleration, but eats more gas. As to maintenance cost, marami ng nagbebenta ng orig Honda parts outside the casa like in Banawe and Chandler along Araneta Ave in QC. If you decide to have it serviced sa casa, well be prepared for the bill. There are fewer modified Accords since it's a dad's car but I guess one can easily find mods for it around the city.
