Default CDI vs. DDI

whats the difference between the common rail diesel injection technology of mercedes benz and the direct diesel injection of mitsubishi?

same concept lang ba itong 2 ito in different names lang tulad ng i-VTEC at VVTi ng honda and toyota respectively? curious lang po.

tnx!

Yup same concept sila. Parehong walang pre-chamber. Fuel diretso agad sa cylinder. Kaboom!

hindi otep..

direct injection still has the conventional x# of cylinder injection pumps, mechanical or electronic it may be. high pressure injection. may use conventional injector design but with separate fuel lines coming from the pump.

common rail has also the pump but purely electronic, only 1 cylinder output, variable shaft that delivers the fuel to all four cylinder using only one output line, much higher pressure. injectors are purely electronic served by a single fuel line called fuel rail.

a pdf file about common rail can be downloaded from our site at [Only registered and activated users can see links. ]

Diba yung 4D56 Direct injection na??? Or for that matter, arent all diesels? The fuel injerctors are right smack on top of the combustion chamber.

pajerokid,
all fuel injectors may it be common rail , direct or indirect injection will always be installed on top of the combustion chamber.

to differentiate indirect from direct is to find if one has glow plugs, kung wala, direct yun. now if you don't see any glow plugs plus you only see one fuel line coming out of the injection pump, plus one fuel line for all x number of cylinders, then that's common rail.

Bubbles,
The fuel is pre heated either at the tank, filter or sa pump na. That way, igniting it doesn't take too much effort that it would require glow plugs.
