Innova/Fortuner/Hilux center console backlight expensive bulb replacement tricks

Here's a way to replace the bulb assembly on Toyota Innova, Fortuner, and Hilux using ordinary peanut bulb which is P10/piece only.

You also have the option to buy this bulb assembly only from Toyota Parts and service at P289.12/piece + Tax (Toyota Part number - 84999-10530, bulb assembly)








Center panel removed, access to aircon control assembly and 2-DIN stereo.

To remove the aircon control assembly.



Bulb can be access from the back of the aircon control assembly by rotating it counter-clockwise.





Steps to replace bulb with inexpensive 10 pesos peanut bulb:

1. remove the busted bulb from its holder/socket, untied its wires and pull the busted bulb.

2. remove the green condom/rubber from the busted bulb and keep it safe for while.

3. Smallest peanut bulb can be bought at any small or large auto supply at P10 /piece. Stick out the wires of the peanut bulb and straighten it parallel to its body.

4. Insert the peanut bulb to the holder/socket and making sure the lead wires passes through the holes. Use small wires or staple wires to wrap along the canals of contact grooves and connect this wire to the peanut bulb wires.

5. Put the green condom/rubber to the converted bulb.

6. Put back the bulb assembly on the aircon control panel, and test the bulb by turning on the park lights.
