Post Hyundai Equus- it's new!

This is it guys, for the first time of 2009, Hyundai's got another luxury FR car! Klarong-klaro na, it's called the Equus from Hyundai. It's now a FR car just like the Genesis and the Genesis Coupe, pero yung engine may 4.6L Tau V8 engine na kaparehas sa Genesis na sold sa U.S. Wanna see the look of the Equus?

Didn't ring a bell? Read the article!
Quote:
March 11 (Bloomberg) -- [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], South Korea’s largest automaker, introduced a revamped Equus luxury sedan, the most expensive vehicle in its lineup, to win customers from Daimler AG and Toyota Motor Corp.
Hyundai aims to sell 13,000 units of the sedan domestically this year and lift sales to 19,000 next year, the Seoul-based carmaker said in an e-mailed statement today. The company plans to export the car to China, the Middle East and other regions in the second half of this year.
Introducing a locally built luxury vehicle may help Chairman [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] to win customers who otherwise would have opted for more expensive imported models, such as Daimler’s Mercedes and Toyota’s Lexus. The Equus, following last year’s premium sedan Genesis, may also help lift earnings, said [Only registered and activated users can see links. ], a Seoul-based analyst at Kyobo Securities Co.
“The introduction of the new model may stop customers from turning to imported vehicles,” Song said.
The Equus, which will be equipped with 3.8-, and 4.6-liter gasoline engines, will sell for between 63.7 million won ($42,800) and 105 million won, the statement said. A 5-liter stretch edition will be added in the second half.
The model is expected to compete with Mercedes-Benz S-class sedans and Toyota’s Lexus 460, it said. The company invested 500 billion won to develop the model over three years.
S-class sedans are priced from 133.9 million won and Lexus460L from 163 million won in Korea, according to the Web site of [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] an import car group of the nation.
Sounds truthful?

Overall the new Equus looks decent...

...but Hyundai, just lessen the chrome on the front bumper/air intake & get rid of the tacky hood ornament and you will have a much better looking car.

Looks great...Maybe we'll see this Equus here soon and priced at 4M-5.5M Pesos...Imagine S-Class features and quality at a price of a basic or midrange E-Class....

What are you talking about? The Ssangyong Chairman is still here, but its separated by two kinds: the Chairman H & the Chairman W

This is the Chairman H

And this is the Chairman W.

Little known fact was kuhang-kuhang yung exterior ng Equus na parang kamukha lang ng Ssangyong Chairman W. Speaking of korean commercials here it is:

The front needs cleaning up... too much going on there. The rear and the side looks decent, save for the large EQUUS name at the back.

it actually looks good for me, save for the grill. i would rather prefer they snap on a wire mesh grill there similar to that of a 300c.

I tend to agree the grill is hideous. There's also too much chrome. The chromed grill can be forgiven. But, those chrome blisters on the corners have to go. Without them, The Equus' lines flow smoother.

Hyundai Equus Limo LWB

Quote:
Hyundai Launches Stretch Edition of Its Luxury Flagship, EQUUS

- 300 mm longer than the sedan version, increasing comfort for the VIP
passenger
- Features award-winning Tau Engine in V8 5.0L version
- Offering the world's most comfortable passenger experience

*All specifications in this release are Korean domestic.

(Seoul, Korea) Hyundai Motor Co. today began receiving orders for the long wheelbase edition of its most luxurious car, the EQUUS.

The stretch edition offers several upgraded features from the normal sedan version, including differentiated exterior designs and longer overall length. The engine and other functions have been reinforced to attain first-class performance, safety, comfort and convenience.

With the comfort of passengers at the forefront of its design principle, the EQUUS Limousine, as it is named in Korea, offers passengers unparalleled levels of interior volume. The vehicle's length is longer than major competitors by as much as 310 mm, with backseat legroom as much as 376 mm longer, as well.

To differentiate it from the EQUUS sedan, the stretch version is equipped with an exclusive horizontal cross-bar radiator grille with an emblem in the center. Thus, the exterior image exudes an impression of strength and confidence, in line with the vehicle's elegant image.

EQUUS Limousine comes with a choice of two sophisticated engines: The Lambda 3.8L engine and the Tau 5.0L engine. The Tau 5.0 engine, applied to the stretch version for the first time, is a reinforced version of the Tau 4.6L engine that won the 2009 Ward's 10 Best Engines award.

With a maximum output of 400ps and a peak torque rating of 51.0kg, the stretch version outperforms its competitors, such as the Lexus LS460L and Mercedes S500L by 20ps and 12ps, respectively.

The power-driven footrest, the world's first, along with Rear Seat Leg Support, Relax Posture Control and Massage System function, allows passengers the most comfortable driving experience found today.

The price for the long wheelbase edition EQUUS ranges from 135 million won to 146 million won (approximately US$113,000 to US$122,180, based on today's currency exchange rates).

Additionally, Hyundai has successfully developed a bulletproof version of the long wheelbase EQUUS and has donated three units to the Blue House (the Korean Presidential Residence). Hyundai is the first Korean company – and one of a handful worldwide - to develop a bulletproof car with its own technology.
Limo version looks great. Not liking the price though for both standard and LWB. but I'm not part of car's demographic so I'm not in a position to complain about the price.
