Default 1.6 Lancer 08 CVT or 1.8 Focus Trend 09 MT

Which is which? How true both consumes 12-13 km/L city driving? I talked both to their respective agents and gave me almost the same figures in terms of fuel consumption. I'm after FC.

A 1.8 DOHC MT consumes same gasoline with a 1.6 SOHC CVT?

hmmm, medyo catchy nga ah... i always thought that the Focus Trend's FC is really high, which is in the 7-8 kpl range at city driving.

the figure could be true for the lancer CVT. imho, CVT's are really good in fuel efficiency.

OT: ganda reasoning mo ah. kaya ka pala na ban...

dapat ang iniisip mo is:

considering sa panahon ngayon and the negative things to come, you should not buy a car unless it is really necessary. and if it is really necessary, look at second hand units first....

mahirap pa rin magbaka sakali sa mga 2nd hand cars sa dami ng incident ng car napping and other hocus pocus sa LTO. If the amount of a 2nd hand unit is about 100-150k, id rather go for a brand new without hassle. compute mo yung mawawalang pera pag di mo na meet mga business associates sa pag pagawa ng mga sirang parts. and kung may other issues pa yung 2nd hand unit. mararamdaman mo kasi yung mga tama pag ginagamit mo na yung kotse ng medyo matagal. imho

I dont know yung city driving how much ang FC. Btw, ECO-Drive nung Lancer CVT daw is 15-16 km/L. I dont know kung ilan yung sa FOCUS. Im more concerned sa FC. I know sa safety features advantage and FOCUS. 70% naman ng safety nasa driver kasi. 29% car feauture, 1% panalangin na matindi hehe. CVT costs 735k while Trend Focus is 734K. 1K lang difference eh. Hirap mag decide.

Eco drive is not real world driving though.
Lancer CVT = 8km/l City driving, Pasay - Makati route, taking Edsa. Lam nyo naman kung gaano ka trapik yun Heritage - Edsa part.
During my run to Pagudpod, I got 15km/l.

I would gather a 1.8L sedan would have a more FC than a 1.6L during city driving. It really depends on your route. If your route involves more sitting in the car than traveling...1.6L would win on FC. IF your route involves more driving fast then sitting...1.8L would win (acceleration). I mean, how much would your FC be when traveling 0kph for 20 mins.

During highway driving 100kph on 5th gear on the Ford is at 3k RPM.
On the Lancer 100kph is at 2.1k RPM. This alone would prove that on long drives, Lancer would have a better FC than Focus.

On the acceleration part, Ford MT would win Hands down.

So now it depends on you.

12 - 13km/l City driving according to agents? Laughable. Saang city yan? hahaha! Its definitely not one of those major cities. When shopping for a car, generally, don't ask for the FC. You'll get a wrong answer, mostly.

Nakakuha naman kami ng 23 km/l from MOA to Caloocan via Quiapo then back via EDSA with a Honda City...

Pero soooooooobrang bagal ang drive namin. Kulang nalang ma-overtake kami ng mga nakabisikleta...

---

The Ford will mean higher fuel consumption and higher cost of ownership... but will definitely feel more special to drive and ride in... very European-esque. Up to you. But if you're looking for utility first and foremost... errh... Honda City?...

Diskarte lang yun... and luck. We lost. The winner did 29.

But here's the thing... we used so little gas on the Eco-run that mistakes at the pump (and we used the same gas pump each time) are possibly bigger than the amount of gas put in! One team complained... they were only at 21 km/l because the gas boy overfilled on the second fill! It's more illustrative to do a full tank test in real world conditions. In other words, empty the tank completely, fill it to the brim, tape it closed, then measure consumption over a week of normal driving.
