Default Hyundai market positioning

What's with the price and "i" vehicle nomenclature?

Is Hyundai positioning it as a "premium" brand? Sort of Kia's counterpart of the Lexus (Toyota), Acura (Honda), and Infiniti (Nissan)...

No Hyundai is not a luxury brand. Although they are putting one foot on it via the Genesis. Remains to be seen if they will create a luxury division...

Hyundais aren't really too much more expensive than other competitors, considering they're CBU (more taxes).

The problem is the Korean currency. It's too strong. That's why the made in Korea i30 is so expensive while the made in India i10 is so affordable (compared to the made in Korea Picanto).

Maybe they're trying to ride the Apple/Mac hype... Whatever it is though I don't feel any innovation to it. Still, I wouldn't underestimate the Koreans.

Speaking of Hyundai's pricing (which is part of marketing, remember the 4 P's of marketing?) it is soo flawed... The i30 and the Elantra are not selling because you have 1.6L compact cars priced higher than a 2.0L compact SUV Tucson.
