Nothing really special about the car model.

Based on the pictures, it looks well maintained although it was taken 2 years ago. Probably a good "pang-harabas" car for a teenage son.

Kung project car baka pwede for the nostalgic effect, pero pag daily driver, baka mapagastos ka dahil mahal din pyesa ng nissan..

I also liked this car when it came out. It had a magic appeal to it.

Pero I heard bad reviews about this model. Sunny ang tawag dito sa US diba?

The 5-door Nissan California was badged as a Sentra (station wagon) in the US.

This is something I heard a long time ago, is it true that the Nissan California's rear strut towers flex because of the huge hatch opening? ...or is this just a myth?

RE: flexing, it's possible that the mounts themselves move, not a big issue when new (we had one), but might be an issue if some of the bulkhead has rusted away na (for cars this old, you may need to reinforce the welds around the rear shock moounts).

The big issue with this series was the weak stock shock absorbers, but we never had problems, so that might be on the sedans only... and they'll all be replacement parts by now.

The engine itself is very old, and not the same as in the B13-B14 sentras that were around from 92-02, so parts won't be as easy, but there are lots of shops that still carry parts for this car.

Nice car. Very spacious for its time, decent aircon, etcetera. But at the age, you're looking at a lot of things to fix. Good for a project car, but as a daily driver... pass.

^^

i agree, unless you're getting it an incredible price.

i can identify with your nostalgic pangs for a boyhood dreamcar now within reach of your adult-age resources. pero you gotta be practical here... the cost to bring it back to reasonable reliability will be substantial. and that box type shape may not take porma accessories very well... no body kits or suspension system kits that i know of for that age of b12 series body...

Thanks for the heads-up, threadstarter. I already bought the unit.

Kidding! rofl! ^_^

... a classmate of mine (in his late 20's) bought something like this- his very first car. It was pretty beat up as i recall, prolly not roadworthy for a trip to ilocos or like... inside my heart, i think it was a junker really, but i didn't say a thing. Tell us later how you find the car if you purchase it..

my boyhood dreamcar was the honda accord of the mid 90's! oh boy that looked so regale to me! Pero hanngang pangarap nalang siguro, it wouldn't be worth the trouble now...

Even if the car came with a good price, you have to consider the current state of the car especially the body and mechanically.

Any rust on the body would require a lot of work. Simple body filler would hide problem spots but would result in worst problems later when it surfaces again. Replacement body panels might be possible since the doors and front fenders are shared from the sentra sedan but the rear fender & hatch would be more difficult.
