First off, kudos to 199 Off-Road House for their excellent stealth winch install on my rig.
My dad was working around the farm driving my brother's Mitsubishi Montero with the military trailer in tow. Unfortunately, some earlier rains had made the ground soft and the Montero eventually dug itself deep enough on the soft stuff that it was already resting on its underbelly. The local farm folk tried to dig it out, push it, even tried to tug it using their improvised farm tractor (a surplus 4x4 of some sort with no body.
After a few futile attempts, he calls me up. I got permission and left work (here in Manila) earlier than usual and headed off to Bulacan.
The access road leading to the farm itself was already a muddy mess requiring low range 4WD (thank you boybi for selling me your 4x4 system!). When I got there I saw the Montero bogged down.
We managed to free it by hooking my winch up to a tree, putting a tow strap on my rear and pulling the Montero with a combination of winch and Patrol power. Got it free with little effort. Spent the rest of the day towing a 6 wheeler ELF full of Royal Palms (which were to be planted) because the ELF would always bog down on the sof soil. What a fun day.
Now who says SUV's are just politico's chariots? And remember these are practially box stock rigs running on A/T tires with very minor mods.
