year 2001-2003 models, been looking to buy one and I dont know the differences in exterior/interior and equipment of the J, E and 1.6g variants.I especially want to know the differences of the lowest model J and E. Hope you guys could help. thanks
Between J and E, 1 thing different is the rear seat,E is split foldable while the J is fixed. 1.6 G and 1.8G(authentic leather seats) has rear disk brakes. I dont have any idea sa mga dash panel,gauges.
J - no foglamp, black color door handle, manual antenna, side moldings black color, no airbag, no abs, rear seat not yet 60/40 split fold
E - no foglamp, body color door handle and side moldings, with airbag (driver side) and abs, 60/40 split-fold rear seat
G - foglamp, body color door handle and side moldings, airbag (driver and passenger), with abs, 60/40 split-fold rear seat, side skirt, front and rear disc brake, leather seat
on the matics of both j, e and g pare pareho lang ba? Ive read na the a/t of the 1.8g is super ect and the 1.6g ect lang, yung sa e and j ba same with 1.6g? im contemplating on purchasing a J model kasi and kung hindi naman nagkakalayo features niya sa e and g ill go ahead and take the plunge

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think AT is not available on the J model. The ATs of the 1.6 E and G are the same, while that of the 1.8G does have Super ECT.
If I were you, go for the E na lang, para you have your power features. If you want to accessorize, the E is a good level to start from. I think the J only has power steering, and it's quite bare.
2001-2003 models naglabas sila ng J na a/t, only in 2004 (facelift version) did they removed the a/t from the J variant. sa motioncars.com kasi hindi naka indicate kung anong model years. sabi kasi ng iba all power na yung J except the side mirrors, other said naman na power steering lang, im confused hehehe.most of the units (1.6g and 1.8g)kasi na natatanungan ko medyo mataas pa price. and Im thinking of getting the J model nalang kung hindi naman nagkakalayo sa features and specs
1.8G = gate type AT with super ECT. Whatever that is. I still feel like the 1.6 engines have more ooomph. I think its because of the power distribution.

That's funny, I'm thinking the opposite. The 1.8's engine and tranny make it, for me, a good and powerful combination. Hehehe! Sorry bratski, pampagulo...
just test drove an 03 altis j a/t yesterday, all power na pala siya with almost the same specs as an E model. wala lang siya airbags,abs and yung side mouldings are black. But i guess I would be better off looking for an E or higher variant
