advice please, on 2nd hand starex (Planning to buy one)
i saw a black SVX 99 model 9-seater auto trans intercooled turbo starex selling for 475K, 44 thousand on the clock. is this a reasonable price? are there things i should watch out for? nadinig ko kasi problema daw mga starex pang-ilalim. how true? thanks peeps. very new here...great site!!!

check out if the vehicle is immaculately maintain, like rubber on doors, sidings etc etc
check the ones that cannot be seen like under the dash, also check the vehicle on the mornings.
korek si kim. yon lower model 1999 down prone to rust yon fenders and sometimes yon doors niya, may sound dampening material (fiberglass ata) kasi sa loob nito. it's funny that it starts in the middle of a panel and not at the sides.
what they do is to remove it then apply undercoat or rustproofed it. na correct na ito sa 2000 models pataas. baka pede mo pang tawaran yan sa 400k.
yon neighbor ko mayroon. ginagamit nga sa CLick show. sa pang ilalim wala naman problem. pa check mo na lang sa servitek to be sure.
we got ours from HARI last yr.ok yan starex van, napaka-practical, maganda naman ang tindig at performance.try 2 get a 2000 model or up para cgurado.yung sa ilalim, mukang wala ka namang dapat alalahanin. all i know s dat d pre-millenium starex s prone to rust nga lalo na sa front fenders.it appears na yung sound deadening material na nilagay sa front fenders ay foam daw kaya nag-aabsorb ng moisture, hence kalawang. pero all in all, masarap i-drive at sumakay sa starex.ang binili ng namin ay yung hndi club version, yung naka vinyl flooring lang. d na kailangang i-vacuum!puro punas na lang!
starex namin na SVX 9 seater na year 99, dami naging problema, last year plang sa aircon we spent P14,000 kasi pnalitan kagad ng cooling coil, last month naman i spent P9,500 ulit dahil naman sa condenser, 4,800 kasi yun and fabricated lang, according kasi sa mga aircon shops, isa sa pinakamahirap na servican and starex, db dual aircon pa yun? about rust, wla pa naman ako nakikita but i think its time na din for rustproofing.
i have only one tip, dont try to change rims of diff size etc. kasi yung samin nagpalit ako ng mags then spacers in front. dami problema, lumuluwag! PI tlga nakakatakot, but basta magaling naman ang tire shop, mareremedyohan naman..
pero u know what yung mga latter models mukhang mas matibay becoz if u notice, 100,000 kms na ang warranty, mukhang confident na cila, di naman namin pinapabayaan but nasira aircon, hai ewan ko b, sabi din nila sakit talaga ng starex yun eh..
newei, twaran mo n lang then maintain it well, ganda lng g auto trans nya, smooth shifting, mga 6-7 kms per liter.

i've driven a manual 99 model club version starex..
ok naman sya..
but medyo mahal ang maintenance..
i have to admit that Korean parts really s*cks!
kaya kapag may pinapalitan..Japan parts na ginagamit namin..
Pajero/L300 parts can fit in the starex..
before i sold it..we replaced the nozzle tips..around 7000 yung nagastos..
last year condenser..P5200..
last year din, nagpalita ako ng fuel pump..
ok yung van basta na-maintain nang maayos..

Check if the mileage is accurate... for a Starex '99 the price seems low if it was supposedly hardly used (roughly 10,000km per year only). Are there service records? Who's sellling you the car?

we bought our starex van model 98 same year ,,mga problem I encountered were the aircon,rusty fender, auxilary fan..pero economical kasi diesel at my fuel saver at mabilis....mas ok n yung model 99 up...
