Also boils down to maintenance and the current condition as well as service history of the car. Like Niky said masmahal Accord in terms of parts and maintenance so hopefully hindi siya nalaspag compared sa Civics of the same year.
Why did you think of the Accord in the first place? There must be a reason why you considered it too.

gandang ganda ako sa accord noon pa and ang dami na kasing Civic out there plus it was cheaper nga sa Civic.,buti na nga lang bawal gawing taxi mga yun...
this will be my first car and you know what? di ako marunong masyado mag drive...
Go for the Accord (Gen 5). It's way, way better than the EK.
I also considered the EK and the Accord when I was in the market for a 2nd hand coding car. Test-drove both, and the Accord came out way ahead (performance, exterior looks and comfort). Tutal sabi mo naman, FC is not an issue.
Yun nga lang, as others have said, parts are a little bit more expensive. Pati registration (mid-sized cars kasi naglalaro sa 6k and reg. fee, compared to ~2.3k for compacts).

kung nasa province ka mahihirapan ka nga humanap ng parts ng accord. kung dito ka naman based sa metro manila, wala problema. hindi naman ganood kamahal parts except kung sa casa ka bibili. 5th gen is sexy. IMHO
