momoyster,

Just buy a chain-type bike lock para built in na yung lock and may plastic wrap ang chain. Dalawang type iyan, yung cable type (usually by Master) and yung chain talaga (usually made in China). Yung chain mas mahirap putulin.

Hindi ko rin alam how the underchassis of the Starex looks like pero malamang may mapaglalagyan ka naman dun. Sa Besta dati binilot ko sa chassis and basket so that the basket will not lower kahit madefeat nila yung bolt ng basket.

Also, place the lock as high as possible para medyo mahirap dukutin and to protect it from the elements. Grease it to prevent rusting and seizing up.

I use the Master chain with wrapping on my pick-up It costs more then a regular chain but it does keep the links/cable from corroding... and its still much cheaper then shopping for a replacement spare tire and rim.

Use also a good, heavy duty, and corrosion resistant padlock like Solex, Master. etc...

I think i spent around P700-P800 for my Solex padlock and Master chain.

Jappy, you mean the socket to bring down the spare tire of the Starex is inside the car (below the rear door)? This would make it harder to steal then since the ones that are easily stolen are those with the lowering mechanism accessible outside/below the car... unless of course they can deflate the tire and make it fit through the cradle.

One way to find out kung nakawin yung spare ng Starex is to go to the shops in Blumentritt and near Banawe and count how many Starex rims they have there. When my Frontier spare was stolen, i went to those small shops and i counted quite a lot of used Frontier rims in different conditions and different finishes... sigh.

P300 for the 2 meter chains, P200 for the all-weather padlock.

It is much easier if you could get it lifted sa gas stations para alam nyo kung san isasabit yung kadena.

Not like L300's which is inside the cabin.

Yup, pwedeng ibaba ang tire carrier ng Starex even without opening the tailgate. Ang eng-eng, noh? Hehehe.

Thought of buying the Yale chain with lock P500+ sa true value kaso baka 1 snap lang to sa bolt cutter. Ang fear ko naman sa solex lock na ito baka hampasin ng hammer so its either mayupi hanggang mapunit yung stainless steal. I dunno pero siguro ilang hampasan to bago nila maalis ito. 8O

yung solex rear spare tire lock yung lug lock type. You need the key before mo maikot yung lug lock. dami ko nakikita na bago CRVs na di secured yung rear spare tires.

You can still take out the CR-V's spare tire even with an alarm. Just don't do any sudden/jerking movements. The shock sensor of most aftermarket alarms are located on the driver's side footwell. Far from the spare tire. Does the OEM alarm have a shock sensor?
