Anong model yung Sentra 1.3? Yung Exalta-body na FE?
Both are ok. The GTX is the top dog in the Pride line up, but it's still a Pride. There are cheap touches abound like the tough headliner, door sidings that sag, seat cushions that flatten over time, sun visors with only one leg (most will be loosey-goosey by now), etc. Finding one in good condition can be tough since the target market really doesn't spend much for maintenance. But if you can find one with a good body and drivetrain, restoring it is not that difficult.
Sentras generally hold up better compared to the Prides (e.g. Sentra dashboards do not rattle, crack, or disintegrate unlike the Pride's). However, neglect is also common. Consider that it has a bigger body so the engine does have to work harder. But you do get a bigger cabin and a bigger trunk. Sentras also tend to share parts among different model years/bodies, so most parts are easy to find.
For me, I'd try shopping around for both and just get whichever one is in better shape.

I'd go with a Sentra, at least it's a sedan and bigger than a Kia. Also the airconditioning is great on Nissans. I think good airconditioning is a must, especially living here in the Philippines. You'd be more comfortable and relaxed in a Sentra in my opinion..
About gas, both are matipid, but it all comes down to your driving habit. But a 1.3 engine should get you good mileagle already.
My very first car was a used Sentra (1.8L GXE) and honestly i was really impressed. I did abuse it in any way i could (roadtrips to Buffalo,NY then Midwest then down to South Texas then back to Minnesota, waaah!) Its fun to drive but at 100mph, it seems that the car would disintegrate (well, its a freakn economy car, def not a G35,lol) I never had a problem with it and prob that's d reason why I stick with Nissans. The trade-in value isnt great but im sure, it will hold up more than a KIA.
series III body mahal yun eh..budjet is roughly the most na 110-120K max..
1.3LEC or 1.4JX?
1.4JX yan ang gamit ko minsan sa Caloocan. Compared sa LEC, mas may features naman ito ng kaunti like side door protective mouldings, remote trunk and fuel release, more trunk carpeting, four taillamps (dalawa lang sa LEC). BUT unlike the LEC PS, walang power steering ang JX. Relatively reliable naman despite being abused and neglected.

i drive a 1.3 Nissan LEC PS. it's 11 y/o and i've had it for 9 yrs (2nd hand). i drive it 5 days a week qc-makati-qc. medyo underpowered coz of the big body and small engine... but i can get it up to over 100kph if i wanted to. FC is 7.8km/L city. installed a gas saving device and got it up to 9.3km/L (although i found out later that you could do this without the device)
started having trouble when the car was about 8-9 y/o... nothing major, though. biggest expense for a single repair was roughly 4K
even with all of that said, everyone who takes it for a drive always says, "ang ganda pa tumakbo!" and i know it does.
not bad for a 11y/o neglected car
the only pro i see in the kia is probably better FC... but everything else belongs to the sentra
ako GTX--1.3L on a smaller body..pero dont be fooled maluwag loob nito ha..
mom'm pride only doese 8-9 kasi matic..kaya DONT GET THE MATIC.
what you'll get on the gtx:
front power windows, power antenna, defogger...add 10T for a powersteering kit...
what the gtx can do: kung malakas loob mo, my mom's AT 1.3L 3-speed maxed out 160kph...pero 140 palang nagagawa ko dun...
and piyesa at maintenance wise: kulang nalang sa sari-sari store ka bumili sa dami ng parts....mapa-korean or japanese(yes mazda parts will fit) mura parin...kahit porma to KDM(korean market look) or JDM (ford festiva look), mura pa rin gagastusin mo..
if you can get on the limited 1.3L all power hatch(included na steering) relased mga 2002-2003 sulit! basta get the manual....

Re: Kia pride GTX or Nissan Sentra 1.3
Sentra. mahina ang CV joints ng Kia Pride... its about as roomy as the Sentra pero bare accomodations ang pakiramdam. feels fragile, yung pedals, shifter, stalks, buttons etc as compared to the sentra.
you get a bullet engine with the Sentra pa. if going for B13, get the EX, not the JX. eto yung facelifted na. PS, 1.4L pero carb pa eto. if you can stretch your money. B14 EX ang maganda sa low budget ride.
