Paensya na mga amo, its me again Now that the new everest has been launched, would you still say that it will be a downgrade if i change my current 99 4x4 pajero with either the 4x2 AT or 4x4 At 2007 Ford Everest? Mukhang maganda yung bagong Everest. What do you guys think?
IF I had a '99 Pajero, I wouldn't trade it in for an Everest unless my unit is having major reliability issues already.
The Everest my have a powerful motor, 5speed A/T, etc. but the Pajero is still a flagship SUV. There is nothing above it in Mitsubishi's food chain.
Besides, I'm charmed as to how beefy and overengineered Pajeros are. From engine to suspension to body, there is nothing flimsy about it. I guess being the flagship unit, you are not subjected to much cost cutting. And I love the little details like underbody armor, rear door toolkit, built-in flashlights (both of 'em), standard rear towing facility, etc.
However if brand new is more important than pedigree, an Everest ain't bad. But it just ain't for me.

We have a 99 Pajero... I want my folks to buy an Everest... but of course the Paj stays with us also... benta na lang namin yung LC80 namin ok lang sakin basta yung perang nakuha pambili ng Everest
The Everest was never a bad vehicle. Being based off the Mazda B / Ford Ranger pickup architecture, it had a definite ruggedness to it, and a decent off-road pedigree... but of course, it was very simple, and very AUV-ish.
The current Everest may look similar, but it's got a lot of content for the money. 5 speed AT, CRDi, dual front and side airbags, ABS and EBD... mas loaded siya ngayon kaysa sa Alterra/Fortuner rivals niya. And it finally has a real engine under there, not some wheezing old turbodiesel lump.
It's probably not much of a step down from the Pajero anymore in terms of content, and hopefully not in terms of ride (the last one had a lumpy suspension). We'll find out this weekend at the test-drive. Tara na?
It might be prudent to wait and find out how Ford's turbodiesels deal with our local fuel. Also, later in the year, Ford is sure to start offering good incentive deals on this truck.

bro even the old everest is a good upgrade for the pajero, very reliable and the engine is a lot powerful compare to the pajero, but ofcourse pajero is still a pajero. but with the 07 everest together with all the ammenities and new engine, it's one hell of an SUV... go for it sir..
