No no you misunderstand me.
Let me state an example.
The Lexus GS's price tag is at $44,150 (base model) to $52,375 (top-of-the-line) which translates to Php2,207,500 and Php2,618,750
pre-tax. Of course, with all the ridiculous taxes here in the RP, the GS's price tag will
double (4,415,000 to 5,237,500), priced similarly to the E-class and the 5-series.
But come 2010, the taxes will be greatly reduced for Japanese cars, making the GS much more affordable when compared to its rivals.
Take the 5-series for example. Its sticker price is supposed to be at $43,500 to $58,500, but because of the taxes here, it also doubles in price. Come 2010, the 5-series will still have the same price tag (4,090,000-5,180,000) but the GS will drop its price to around 2,207,500 to 2,618,750, more or less. Now, what I meant by what I posted above is that you can buy a car equal to what BMW has to offer for half the price. IMHO, at the price Lexus would be offering, it would be ridiculous to get the BMW equivalent.
Imagine a brand new GS for sale @ Php2,207,500 vs a 5-series for sale at Php4,090,000.
