If you have no problems about the ride quality, ok siya.

2005 Suzuki Jimny A/T

MAtagtaG
mABAGAL
Masikip
Malakas sa Gas (8 to 9km per liter) Dont get fooled by the 1300cc hehehehe

When we bought it i expected the three characteristics.
but the fuel consumption was a dissapointment.

But am loving it! hehehehe

Another thing, battery is quite a pain in the a s s not much choice but to one single brand (GS). why? it requires small post with reverse polarity

maintenancE?

Its got 15000km reading and only oil change was done(every 5k). and ako na lang nagpalit para mura hehehehehe

Mga pre meron kaming 2002 Suzuki Jimny MT. This has the dated dashboard and cheap plastics all around which I really despised pero wala akong magagawa dahil si erpat ang may gusto nito... Kinda right considering that time na wala ka ng mabibiling cheap 4x4 cute-ute na 600k... Expand ko lang yung earlier thread...

MAtagtaG
True. sasakit talaga kasu-kasuhan mo after a long stretch of potholes along the San Jose Del Monte Bulacan Area pero ok lang naman ang ride pagdating sa mga aspaltadong lugar ng makati. Siguro ang nagpalala lang sa kaso namin e in-upgrade ni erpat yung stock mags & tires to 17 inch mags & Pirelli tires... imagine that... not a livable car pero dagdag pogi points lang...

mABAGAL

Whats really bad is that the SUV is not torquey... kaya ayun mabagal talaga... hirap pa paabutin ng 100kph

Masikip
2 6-footer guys can be accomodated without problem sa harap with the seats at the farthest slide setting... sa Likod... 2 5'6 na tao siguro can ride comfortably... dont bother squeezing 5 sa SUV na to kasi talaga namang magiging parusa ang ride.

Malakas sa Gas
We get 9-10 kasi nga hindi naman pwede sa hatawan to... U will just get frustrated kung gusto mo tumakbo ng mabilis... Kaya leisure driving lang talaga kaya as a result you get fuel savings ng konti...

Add the curb weight facts described above... kaya hindi ito gas misser... buti pa ang Rav4 2.0 na 3-door, 8km/liter pero mabilis naman...

Mechanicals
Add to the cheap plastic feeling... parang ang konti ng insulation na nilagay dito dahil lahat ng bagay dito e parang ramdam na ramdam mo... When you brake... parang ramdam mo yung caliper na kumakagat sa brake pads at disc... when you pull up the hand brake parang ramdam mo yung clicks ng mechanicals sa ilalim...

Pero ok yung feeling ng pag engage ng 4x4... pag ine-engage mo yung manual gear mararamdaman mo rin yung pag engage sa ilalim. Pero even using 4x4 cannot make you go faster unlike sa Pajero na when you engage the 4x4 you feel better grip at faster acceleration from a standstill.

Maintenance
Very cheap... it already clocked 45,000km for 3 years... wala pang major na piyesang pinalitan..

Accesories
Very basic walang cupholders.. fabric seats lang... CD Radio with 2 speakers... bad trip yun... hindi man lang stock na 4 speakers...

Verdict
You are completely out of your mind to choose this as your primary car... It pretty lives up to its purpose for us as a weekend car or a toy car or an enthusiast car or a car to show to the world that I can buy any car I like kasi gusto ko lang...

Nung November 2002... I was vouching for the Hyundai Matrix because of the interior design of the car... mas mura pa sa Jimny that time...

Pero what the heck kung wala kaming Jimny e di hindi ko nasulat tong litanyang to!

@mikmik316: good summary!

That's why we didn't get one when we were offered it as a trade for our Sentra FE 1.3 . It's a much cuter and possibly more fun (off-road, that is...) choice than the FE, but it just didn't have the same utility.

I'm still dreaming of it as a third car... since we already have a Crosswind and a sedan, we don't need another big vehicle, but we do need the extra wheels.

2002 Jimny's can be had for around Php350k or less on the used car market nowadays.

Don't expect it to be a car. It's underchassis is basically a scaled down Nissan Patrol GU in design.

It's slow to reach highway speeds because of gearing. Short geared kasi making it quite peppy in city driving (mas mabilis pa sa Pajero from standing start). Runs out of breath at highway speeds due to short gearing (which is something you'll appreciate more when off-road). Much like the Vitara. Kayang-kaya ko iwan from standing start. Pero at 120kph, madali na lusutan.

Fuel consumption is good enough for something with the underpinnings of a tank. Try driving a Vios off-road.

It's only a 4 seater (4 seatbelts) and shares its body with the 660cc Jimny which has very strict size limitations including width and length. It's already maxed out in the Jimny's case. When they added the fender flares for the Jimny 1.3, the vehicle already moved up to the next tax bracket in the home market.

But it is pretty useless to someone who does not need it.

I still want one.

Mines got 5 cup holders :P hehehehehe
3 upfront two at the back and its a four seater! hehehehe

Yup it is true that making this as an everyday is not a good idea. (Unless you have an open mind and likes to think out of the box hehehehe)

but as for me, i wouldnt mind having this as a priority one car
(I guess the fact that i use to drive an owner type jeep helps me tolerate the jimny hehehe)

May black na Jimny yung nasa harap namin. Pinalitan lang yung rims gwapo na. May airbag ba yung high end variant nito? Kung tama kasi ang tanda ko nung nagtanong kami a few months ago wala.
