Im planning to buy a 2nd hand (great condition) Nissan Xtrail 2004(august) 250X 4x4 from a good friend for P900K. Nissan Xtrail has been Japans best SUV for 2004 and 2005 with good reviews but Im really in love with the Toyota Fortuner's look. Im not sure about the features ( suspension, and interior plus the fact that its only got front disc brakes and drum rears). If you were in my position, what would you choose? I need your suggestions guys. Considering the price of a 2nd hand great condition xtrail and a brand new fortuner is P1.3-1.6K. Thanks guys. I need you insights.
fuel consumption will be between 6-8km/li on the city, 9-12km/li on the highway. Acceleration is good, airconditioning system is pretty cool however walang aircon vent for the rear passengers so thats a minus. Center mounted dash is subjective either you love it or hate it. Interior is mostly plastic so again it is subjective (it gets easily scratched). Spare tire placed under the rear compartment floor so this keeps your spare tire nice and dry also secure from theft. Overall drive is nice, engine is smooth, max speed is 180kph due to the speedlimiter. Loads of space at the compartment. Overall a nice car to drive.
mahal ata benta ng friend mo check the classified ads 850k wala pang tawad ang mga 250x ngayon..ok xtrail but yung seats lang bitin sa upper leg area hindi comfortable for me..if you have the budget go for what you really want para no "what ifs" sa huli..
Medyo issue if you ask me, lalo na kung walang maayos na parking yung sasakyan. Hehe, parang ang tagal magcirculate ng hangin, minsan naman weird, mas malamig sa harap kaysa sa likod, ewan ko kung bakit.
Go to the Car Chart in [Only registered and activated users can see links. ] and see for yourself why some people will say that the Fortuner is the better choice.
But, you can't really compare the Fortuner to the X-Trail (2nd hand pa). They're from different categories, eh. Looks is not a good reason to get the Fortuner, 'coz it's a lot more expensive than your friend's 2nd Hand X-Trail. You should justify the difference in price with your possible need for the following:
- Space for 7-8 people.
- Better fuel consumption and lower fuel cost (if you get D4-D).
- Body on ladder-frame.
- A brand new vehicle.

But then an X-Trail probably is a better drive than the Fortuner. Well damped suspension set-up, car-like handling, strong engine and more practical and sophisticated 4WD. Plus, with that acquisition cost you've been offered, it's half the price of Fortuner. X-Trail's design IMO still works in a modern and latest way.
The X-Trail isn't really big enough for that to be an issue, or is it?
It depends on the weather condition, if its summer, middle of the day it becomes an issue for the rear passengers. But generally its nice and cool. Rear vents would be a welcome addition tho.
get the Fortuner. sayang 900k mo for a 2nd hand car.
Thanks for all the listings guys. Actually my friend agreed to sell it for P850K. Maybe not bad for a 250X 4WD. He is a good friend of mine and I trust him when he says its in great condition. Actually barkada ko sya so in terms of car condition, the car is in perfect condition. Right now Ive been thinking that the Fortuner has increased its price to 1.3-1.6 million without the insurance pa so I think im gearing a bit towards the xtrail now. Na test drive ko sya and I like the acceleration and the suspension. Im really happy with the aircon. I didnt see any problem with it not having a rear ventilation. I havent test driven a Fortuner yet. I just saw the interiors of it at a car wash and I didnt find the interiors very appealing. Although, Im sure the ride should be great too. Your right, its hard to compare both because they belong to slightly different categories. But in terms of what car offers you more features, I guess the Xtrail beats the Fortuner. Gwapo lang talaga Fortuner sa looks nya and size.
Get the Fortuner if you need to sit regularly 7 people or if you do some off-roading.
Other than that, the X-Trail is more suited for urbanites. Strong 180hp engine, rear disc brakes, compact profile, and has a better ride & handling.
Plus, 850K versus 1.3M-1.6M is just a no brainer. At least you didn't absorb the initial depreciation of brand new vehicles plus the in-house financing schemes offered for the Fortuner is a big turn-off.

if you really trust your friend, then get the xtrail. for me, it is one of the best mini suvs around. mas comfortable pa yan sa fortuner, medyo bouncy ang fortuner.
