Re: Should I get a second hand Ford Lynx Ghia 2000 M/T?
Gas consumption is merely okay, not as good as a Civic or a Corolla.
Lots of toys and interior kit on the Ghia model. Aircon is good, but obviously not as good as a Sentra's.
Suspension is on the stiff side, but handling is very good compared to the competition. Check for wheel bearing and bushing wear. (This is actually a must for any five year old car).
Cam Position Sensors are a common problem on older Lynxes. But if the previous owner has already replaced the sensor, it should be okay (the replacement sensor has a different design). If not, it's between 3k to 5k to fix, so it's not a big problem. Signs of CPS failure include stalling in traffic, then normal operation once the car has cooled down. There may also be coilpack and/or MAF issues if the car was used in traffic a lot, so it's best to test drive it in noontime traffic to see if there are any issues. Again, these problems aren't that expensive to fix, and you should find out if the previous owner has already addressed them.
