Hello po sa lahat. Which car should I get?
-First choice Brand new ford Focus Focus (about 900K-financing)
-Second choice Pajero '00 (budget 650K-cash)
(Could I have more infos about Exceed and is it safe to get from Subic?)
-Third choice Starex 7-seater '03 (budget 650K-cash)
all manual transmission, reliable, most fuel efficient, easy maintenance.
I'm single. For city driving, twice a year drives in Baguio, very seldom drives in Barangay Maputik. Thank you in advance.
only the focus 1.6L has a manual tranny... the 1.8L & 2.0L variants only have an auto tranny with a manual shifter.
if you are single, it is a toss up between the focus & pajero. the focus will give you a few years worth of hassle free maintenance (since it is brand new). although the pajero is quiet reliable... you have to remember that it is still a 6 year old vehicle and it'll all depend on how the first owner maintained it in the first place.
If you plan on hauling people, the Starex is your choice. Otherwise, it's a toss up between the two.
If you plan on doing something in the back seat, the Pajero has lots of room. There's a thread on pros and cons of second hand as well as Subic-sourced vehicles. A search will yield plenty of info.
I haven't seen the Ford Focus but some say the new car smell is overrated.

nagustuhan ko lang mga big cars, kasi before I used to drive Yukon Denali & Chevy Tahoe, company cars po, kaya libre gas. My case here in the Philippines, I don't have that much money to buy brand new Full size SUV or Vans. Iba po kasi yung comfort na naranasan ko sa mga bigger cars. My heart is on the Pajero because of my friends suggestions, at sabi nila reliable at kahit papano matipid sa gas compare with other big cars. There are a few car dealers in our area with good reputation, mahal nga lang.

you are right the pajero is indeed very reliable, even the late 80s-early 90's model you can still see many of them running around the metro
but in this case if you are considering a subic model you might as well scrap the option and choose between the focus and starex
price wise based on the information you have given i would choose the starex because you can aquire it cash and you will have the added people/cargo hauling capacity.
but if you could jack up your budget a bit and acquire the focus or any other sedan in this case on a cash basis then why not; for sure it would give you 3-5 years of worry free driving and not to forget the brand new car smell (god i miss that smell hehehe)
Since you're after comfort, the Focus has a supple suspension set-up. The seats are hard, but it seems to go well with the ride. And when you want to go beserk on the roads, the Focus will feed you back fun with the steering wheel.
And most of all, there's the presence factor when you're driving a Focus hatch. It's a good looking thing, when everything else in the road is a Toyota Altis or a Honda Civic.
Actually, if you're looking for a bargain... get the end-of-production run of the Civic VTi or VTi-S. They're quick and nippy, with good room. Suspension's a little soft for my taste, but the Honda aftermarket can cure that easily.
And with the new Civic coming in... now's the time to go bargain hunting.

I think you're right on acquiring subic models, its too risky for me, you know, I'm not good with used cars especially coming from subic and it kills the local auto market.
What can you say about Focus' legroom? Thanks
