nagbabalak po kasi ako bumili ng 2nd hand car (100thou budget) im choosing between the two
1.) '90-'92 toyota corolla XE = power steering w tach 1.3 2e 12 valve
2.) '90-'92 toyota corolla GL = all power w tach 1.6 4af 16 valve

Re: toyota XE vs. Toyota GL
AFAIK, mahirap makahanap ng power steering na GL kahit pa yung all power.
yung (97)XL at (95)XE na big body namin kaya umakyat ng Baguio although nag-iinit makina. still it can do the job and consumption should be way better than the GL which is 1.6L carb.
The XE should get the job done, but if you plan to carry 4 or 5 people plus luggage, you will need some work, like knowing when to shift, etc. It's a piece of cake for a torquey GLi though. The GL is still carbureted, and like many say, is a bit of a guzzler.
@squala
sir meron po bang lumabas na '92 corolla XE na EFI na o kailangan pa sya pa convert? kung wala magkano po kaya magagastos sa pagpapaconvert? model '92 po lang kasi talaga kaya ng budget ko?

Walang EFI na XE I'm afraid, although there are surplus 1.3 EFI engines that can replace the carbureted one. The code is 4E-FE. There's also a turbo 1.3, named 4E-FTE.
If you want a 1.6, there's always the GLi for a few ten thousands more. You can also go for more powerful engines if you want to go faster. There's a full line of 4A-GEs, high-horsepower, 20 valves or supercharged!
For me, the best way to go, that is, if you're not contented with a carbureted 1.3, is to go for the EFI 1.6 instead. The engine swap will cost just about as much, and wouldn't you want 'free' power windows, locks and mirrors to go with that?
good question. maybe it's because the AE101 body still commands a high price, anywhere from 160k to 200k+ which imho it doesn't deserve. toyota has such a reputation..
for 120k wala kang choice but to get an AE92/EE90.

The AE101 is the class leader during its time, that's why it has a higher resale value.
I have a Toyota 90, and oks naman sya pati yung takbo nya ok din for me. it's just di sya power.pero beside that wala naman ako problema.
Wala lang share ko lang.
Carlo,
Kung di ka nagmamadali, you can wait. Meron ako nakikita kung minsan FS GL, 90-92 all power na and what more, converted na ang makina niya to 4age. scan the buyandsell mag. marami ka makikita na toyota gl diyan. tiyempuhan lang, ika nga.
