Starex Power steering

Hi, I notice that when I turn the steering wheel of my Starex either left or right, may "ugong" na sound. I hear this only when the car is stationary or moving very slowly. I was wondering if this is really a characteristic of Starexes or is there something wrong with my car? The "ugong" sound has been there since I bought the car (July 2002). Anyone having the same experience?

That sound is not good. Humming sound coming from the P/S pump is a sign of "soon-to-be-replaced-part". Not that I would recommend that you change it soon, but it will most likely to fail either.

Natuyuan yan malamang ng P/S fluids before you bought that van. Turning it both ways will produce a humming sound that you could only hear when the vehicle is not moving. Try to check the P/S fluid regularly, if you happen to refill it often, the hydraulic hose might have leaks you didn't noticed. Or any other P/S lines before it.

hmmm sa akin naman nung nag overhaul ako ng power steering nung kakalagay palang ng fluid may ugong sabi nila ganun daw muna yun kasi may hangin pa... guess that's not a good sound nga kasi sa akin nawala na nung wala nang bubbles. Di kaya may hangin yung p/s mo? check the fluid narin. =)

I am sure na under warranty pa ang Starex mo. Bring it back to the dealer and have a warranty check regarding your complaint. Huwag kang pumayag na di nila maayos. Pwede ding baka belt tension ang problem. Goodluck. :wink:

Check PS fluid and add if needed. Kulang lang yan. :wink:

I have checked the P/S fluid and meron naman laman and is almost full. I also checked the hoses coming from the P/S unit and wala naman leaks. Mdpo, na wala din ba yung ugong ng starex mo nung nawala yung hangin? Paano mag-bleed ng P/S?

Minsang matuyuan ang P/S pump, panigurado may tama na yung shaft nun sa loob. Kahit punuin ng P/S fluids after. Yung kinain na gap sa P/S shaft sa loob ng P/S pump ang nag po-produce ng sound.
Based on my experience lang po. Maybe some could shed more info on this.

Try mong itulak ng fresh or new fluid, at the same time na be-bleed mo na din.
