Hi! I'm just one of thousands of Frustrated Fortuner hopefulls..well, I've finally decided to just buy another SUV instead. I plan to get one asap to avoid the evat implementation, hope you guys can help me.
Budget is 1.4M max. Which of the SUVs in the market are more fuel efficient? Your opinion on which has the better looking exterior and interior? How many years left before the manufacturers change it's current body make?
So far i've seen the X-trail, New Vitara, Sorento, CRV.
For me, I'll go with the Sorento. Space is definitely not a problem here (with some variants having a 3rd row folding seat). Though the materials used could still be improved but it is a good effort from Korea. Good reviews from abroad & here (from tsikoteers who own one) is something worth noting.
Though I have yet to see for myself the new Vit, but it looks promising (though styling is a cut & paste from other SUVs).
with a new civic out, the CR-V will soon be replaced (since the CR-V is based on the civic platform) for 2007.
The Sorento is the closest thing to the fortuner in that it has a truck frame and live axle (and low range 4WD too). still a good value at 1.3 M, but there are a few ugly details: a few junky plastics, a horribly soft and spongy rear seat cushion that sinks when you sit on it and ugly seat fabrics to name a few. those things are easy to fix (the seat padding and upholstery can be redone)
if you need space, the CR-V is the most spacious of all those (yes, even more spacious than the Sorento).
styling, sorento is clearly the most attractive on the outside. not bad inside, but i'm guessing that the grand vitara has the most pleasntly styled interior.
fuel efficiency, no doubt the diesel sorento wins it. available in M/T too.
Is this the new vitara you guys are talking about? Is it here in the phils?
Yes sir, that's the new Vitara. Honestly this one attracted me the most for several reason. The Interior, is very modern compared to other SUVs. The exterior looks sporty, actually looks like an evo (my opinion only) and the new body hopefully will last atleast until 2010. On the downside, they don't have a test drive unit. Another thing is every time it needs have a tune up I have to go to Makati (I live in BF Homes, btw). And how about the availability of parts and how is Suzuki's CASA services? Any feedback from past Vitara owners?
With regards to the Sorento, I read on another thread that availability of parts and services are much to be desired. How true? I just test drived it yesterday and seems to be ok, the interior spacious but a bit "oldy" (again, my opinion only). The Exterior, just like the Vitara is sporty, which is good.
