Is it worth it to get the prado or mas practical to get a fortuner instead.. Correctly me if I'm wrong. The fortuner 3.0 has a better engine.... How about comfort? Accessories? Safety option? Is it worth the 1M+ difference?
Toyota Landcruiser Prado (LC120)...i still like the old but reliable engine (mine you toyota B engines are still preferred by off roaders across the phils)
pumunta po ako toyota show.. world of toyota pa yun... layo ng diff ng prado sa fortuner.. sa totoo lang.. i duno kung ano pinagkakaguluhan ng mga tao sa suv na yun... its not the best suv ive seen.. kahit price.. ndi din naman mura... mahal mahal.. hehe... anyways.. ganun na yata talaga since tumaas na lahat
Prado Pros:
- Prestigious SUV model
- Opulent interior
- Rear disc brakes
- Japanese made
- No waiting line
- Very few have it (and, one of them may be you)
Prado Cons:
- Very expensive
- 3rd Row seat is cramped compared to Fortuner
- Available RP units have weaker and older model engine compared to Fortuner 3.0V
Fortuner Pros:
- Costs P1M less than Prado despite nearly same size (interiors can be upgraded to Prado level for less than P200T)
- More spacious interior and seating
- Latest technology diesel engine from Toyota
- Butch styling
- Everybody wants one, but only a few can get it (for now)
Fortuner Cons:
- Rear drum brakes
- Basic looking 2DIN stereo
- Next to spartan interior compared to Prado
- Long waiting line is very discouraging!

I'd get the Fortuner then use the 1M for modifications. Don't get me wrong, I really like the Prado. But if I had a choice, I'd rather have the Fortuner plus 1M cash, rather than just having a Prado. But that's just me.
The only things the Prado really has over the Fortuner (aside from exclusivity) are 1) a MUCH more luxurious and high-quality interior -- the Fortuner's interior is pretty low-rent -- 2) better noise, vibration and harshness control and a more solid feel; and 3) an electronic off-road assistance package that includes traction control and hill-descent control and other things.
numbers 1 and 2 will make the prado FEEL 1+ million bucks richer than the Fortuner (the prado is after all the Lexus GX in north america), but the mind simply says that the prado is insanely overpriced compared to the fortuner.
A Civic isn't as comparable to a BMW, as a Fortuner is to a Prado. Actually, some people I know (who don't know too much about cars) think that the Fortuner actually looks better than the Prado. Stock for stock palang yun ha.
hehe... a civic 2.0 and a BMW 318i are comparable in many ways (same size, similar displacement, etc), yet obviously the BMW is engineered to a higher price point than the Civic.
it's the same with the Fortuner and the Prado. The Prado is simply engineered to a higher price point. the fortuner may look better than the prado or the fortuner may be more spacious or the fortuner may have a better engine, but the fact remains that the Prado is in a different class of vehicle altogether. it will be extremely hard to modify the Fortuner to match the refinement and sophistication of the prado.
