hi guys, i know they're both the mazda 3 kaya di ko sure if nagqua-qualify sya for this forum pero I was just wondering what are the pros and cons in having a 2.0 or 1.6... What would you guys get...I mean worth it ba yung 2.0? with the fuel price increasing... how about yung features? better ba if you get the 2.0 or 1.6 then do some mods na lng...
why? bigger engine doesnt mean it drinks more gas. . .on the contrary, a bigger engine means it wont use up as much gas as a smaller engine car since mas hindi hirap yung makina...
bang for the buck would also go to the 2.0l since you get 17 inch rims, kits, that nice blacked out tail lights, leather seats, sun roof, auto climate(?..basta indi yung dial type) bigger engine, etcetc.. oh, and have you seen a white 2.0l? wowowee
however, if you like a basic transport...1.6l na lang..hintay ka lang ng 2 months..
fyi, waiting time for the 1.6l S and V variants is 2 months, the hatch and 2.0l R significantly lesser..

not necessarily true. would depend on revs (affected by driving habit and also transmission gearing) and the specification for how much fuel the injectors squirt per combustion cycle. in heavy traffic, the larger engine will drink significantly more fuel. in other conditions, the smaller engine will drink more only if it is revved hard and the larger engine is not.
If you just have to have the features of the 2.0 and would not mind so much the price difference, then, by all means, the 2.0 is it.
However, if you are really after the "best-bang-for-your-money", the 1.6 base model is good value. Fuel consumption. is a matter of optimising the drive. Sure, the auto will not save as much as a manual but driving it well can give good mileage.
The problem of having a bigger engine is the temptation to drive it harder, if you are such a person with very little restraint, then whatever engine size, the fuel consumption will be high. Much higher for 2.0 litre if you push it hard, for sure.
Some people, used the model that paying for a lower model, then adding your own mods later gives better satisfaction. There is merit in this argument. If you buy a "Fully-loaded" model, no point doing mods , is there ?. Better tires are just about it, or better audio.
You have to really analyse your very own preference, taste & want to really know which is best for you. Factor in price, expected spend, style, look & feel. Some people can make a very easy choice. Others, may find it even more confusing! Good Luck.
As much as possible, you would want to get a car that already has enough speed for you right? If your budget permits, then get the 2.0. I've tried the 1.6 and it seems that it can be outran many older 1.6 cars. The problem with this car is that its weight increased (due to safety standards) but engine output didn't. In fact, it's less powerful than the others let alone not benefitting from variable valve timing advancement. So don't expect brisk performance from this car. However, I'd pick this car had it had a manual gearbox at least.
Fuel economy in the 2.0 shouldn't be much worse than the 1.6. On the contrary, some owners say it's even more efficient, perhaps because of better power-weight ratio. But like the 1.6, it lacks a gear and a state-of-the-art engine.
2.0, not really significant difference in price to the 1.6..100k n u get all the goodies na.
same consideration that i did..
kaya 2.0 na..
OT: one more thing, pinilit ko na isoli ang ibang free (tint, etc..) for the free mazda alarm instead.. (para wala rin kesyo kesyo sa warranty) so far, positive ang sagot
ako na bahala sa tint sa banawe pag nagsawa na ako sa "tintless"

The 1.6 is really sluggish, but if you're using it as an everyday commuter, practical naman. It can still go up to 160+ km/h, and can cruise comfortably at 120+, and you don't need any more speed than that.
But if you like to overtake... forget it. Get the 2.0.
Whichever one you get, maganda pa rin ang interior at exterior, kahit hindi fully loaded. And it's easy to get the trim parts to "upgrade" your ride in terms of looks. My cuz already has a 2.0 grill and his tail-lights are coming along soon.

meron owner ng mz3 nabangga likod nya tapos pinapalit nya ng 2.0 bumper heheheh ayos yun so pag nabangga kayo sa likod tapos naka 1.6 smile nalang kayo hehehheh
The 2.0L's packaging makes the 900K pricing a bit justifiable. On top of having around 30 more horses - you also get 17" rims, spoiler, moonroof, auto-climate control, smoked lamps, etc...

I second that!
Ive driven the 1.6 and it lacks power specially if you are a performance oriented person but the handling and ride is superb and it makes up for the lack of power, fc depends on the way you drive but it is a bit thristy coz of the weight. If you have money to spare get the 3 2.0. Its the best car in that segment with all the goodies its got!!
