I’m about to buy my first brand new car in 10 years. I’m more concerned about cost, practicality, gas consumption, cost of maintenance and available interior space. I drive an average of about 70T kms everyday because of my work. Help please

anyway, with your choices and requirements its really a no brainer. The Honda Jazz 1.3 is the best choice. The only problem is the purchase price.
sir, it depends talaga kung ano ang preference (read:budget) mo. i'd say jazz, would be more a practical choice pero hindi practical ang initial cost of acquisition. if city, just wait for the revamped model. pangit yung current model e. vios, well its got solid reputation, though i saw an isolated incident na tumirik, medyo bago pa. saka i didn't like the instrument cluster being not in the right place, plus its cramped.
why not get a getz? or a matrix crdi? getz would be a safe choice, considering the price. matrix crdi if you want both space and fuel efficiency.
Between the three I would get any of the Honda(s), particulary the Jazz. The addtional space the Jazz might accomodate may not be a considerable factor now, but in the future, as your needs and circumstances evolve, that space will suddenly become so. Either way it is money well spent on. I believe the downside of Honda's that I can think of, is the higher prices for parts and casa service.
Try to avoid the Vios. I looked at one (the base model, "J")and it felt so bland inside and the quality seems substandard. The instrumental panels are located in the center which, imo, is just ridiculous. Plus, if you do a search on the Vios forums here in Tsikot, you would encounter some complaints from owners with serious defects in their units.
Have you considered a Ford Lynx 1.3 LSI M/T or 1.6 GSI M/T, which I believe is going around PhP 535,000 and PhP 650,000, respectively? Resale value? Not to worry, since you dont seem to prefer to change or upgrade vehicles very often, so the negative effects of American car resale values will be negated in your long term use of the vehicle. Ford build quality among its Asian built vehicles (ie. Lynx, Ranger, Everest, Focus, etc.) are quite good with very little or no complaints. Parts are becoming more and more inexpensive as they expand in the Phil.
To me, the Lynx would be a better choice among the three that you mentioned since, at close or similar price points, the Lynx is actually a more "real" sedan than any of the three compacts. The extent of the "elbow rubbing" effect amongst passenger will be much more subtle in the Lynx due to its more generous proportion. The same could not be said for the other three compact cars you mentioned. Plus, with the immenent launch of the Focus in Aug 20, expect dealers to give good deals on the Lynx.
the problem with honda is the parts. not the availability but the prices of the parts. suspension in particular. i had the first hand experience, but not on the jazz but on the civic. and found out, the problem is all across the model range. accord, city, civic, jazz. di ko lang alam yung crv, pero siguro pati yun, kasi pareho lang sila ng parts ng civic.
Vios is a very lightweight car, the J variant is probably 920kg only! You get a lot less metal. Whether this translates to less crash protection I can't say... Then the center meters is just stupid. No power side mirrors. Very cramped.
The Jazz doesn't have a trunk. So if you load something smelly or dusty it will circulate throughout the cabin.
Among your choices I vote for the City.
Other options include:
Ford Lynx GSi, big 75K discount, loaded.
Nissan Sentra GX, bigger, heavier than the City. May be a bit underpowered with only a 1.3 engine

Just wondering... is it safe to pressume that heavier cars like the lynx or the sentra with a 1.3 engine consumes more gas compared to a vios, a city or a jazz because of its weight?
