I don't know if a similar question has already been asked before. Sorry nalang if it has.
My best friend's new company is providing him with a car. What do you recommend? His budget is P600K but he doesn't mind adding a little more (to P750K) if the car is worth it. Company policy lang, it has to be brand new. With all the nice cars in the market now, he doesn't have any preference.
Criteria lang nya ito:
- Matipid (especially around the city)
- Medyo may hatak naman (he'll need to travel to the South every once in a while)
- Ok ang re-sale value (it'll be his after 5 years)
- Ok ang after-sales support.
- May nationwide dealership network (in case tirikin sya sa probinsiya)
That's it. Hope you guys can share your views. Salamat!
city and vios fit his criteria, civic VTi M/T and altis 1.6E pasok sa 750k budget
Lynx Ghia 1.6 M/T is an absolute gem at P755k (though I'm sure ford dealers will be willing to discount heavily, especially when the focus comes out soon), but it'll be far more special than anything else below this price... sunroof, parking sensors, sunshades, beige leather...
talo yung lynx sa resale and fuel economy, but heck, panalo naman siya sa comfort at performance at "feel-good" for at least 5 years hehe.
as to other choices... picanto and getz, forget it hehe. jimny is okay if he wants to go off-roading, but chances are he won't and the jimny is too tiny for long trips. APV (whether the base or upmarket variant) is an option if a van will be useful for him, but power and resale and service (compared to toyota) are compromised. Innova J fits the extended budget but.... it's a poverty pack inside
i'd go with the altis E at 745k i believe. i think a big consideration is the resale value.
2001 altis'es still go above 500k! unbelievable the lengths people go to with their belief in toyota.
although personally i like the mazda3, the service and support structure is not that tested yet (you could argue it's ford din naman, but still...) and the resale value is unknown: can mazda get beyond their "sirain, lakas laklak sa gas" reputation from the old 323? i mean, nissan is sinking in the market because of the reputation of the B12 cars. late 80s pa yun, di pa rin sila nakakabawi.
of course a big difference between nissan and mazda is that the current sentra is ho-hum while the mazda3 is sharp!
Lynx RS... fuel economy is reasonable... with the discounts, it'll definitely fit within 750k... of course, try telling your bosses that!
But as a company mobile, perhaps a City, Jazz or Matrix would be more suitable. But if the long trips are a major concern, the Lynx, Sentra and Lancer are all quite suitable, because they come loaded to the gills at a relatively lower price. Altis, Civic and Mazda will cost a bit of a premium for similar features, but along with this goes a better resale value.
Best way to decide is to do the old glute test. He should sit in each one and decide which one he would like to spend the next five years of traffic in.

mazda3. better yet, wait for the ford focus. honda is about to launch the new generation civic, so definitely the current model is out of question. same with toyota, though, i'll put my money to it. but the model is also quite dated.
mazda3 and focus shares the same platform. and yes, mazda may have some jaded past, i'm sure mazda has learned from that already, besides di ba dati hindi naman ford ang may hawak ng mazda- fmc (what a coincidence!) francisco motors o columbia? ngayon side by side na sa production ang focus at 3.
I'd go with the Ford Lynx Ghia M/T (P755K). The Lynx is definitely the best bang for the buck car around (if he can afford the RS version, it would be better).

Di ko maintindihan ito. I checked the specs naman, what makes it better than the Altis E? back up sensors? moonroof?
