Am about to buy a new vehicle but do not know what brand am I going to purchase. My budget is a little over 1M. I want the looks of a SUV (particularly XUVi and Sportivo) minus the "tagtag" , the comfort of a car (i.e., Innova) ,with a remarkable fuel efficiency, hi-tech accessories and dashboard (i.e. Adventure Grand Sport 2005) and with good customer service.
I know that I might be asking too much for a reasonable budget but hey...this is hard earned money and I hope you could help me choose my dream car.
I have a wife, a 6 month old kid and 1 yaya. Often travel within the metropolis from North Ave to Pasay City everyday. During weekends, we go home to Angeles City. More or less, these are my requirements: (1) more space at the back to accommodate the crib, stroller and clothes of the kid as well as the whole family.
I hope someone could help me decide on this and hopefully you could give me a feedback soon as my nissan california '89 is about to go 6 feet under the ground.
Your best bet would be a mini-SUV / CUV -> Nissan X-trail, Ford Escape, Mazda Tribby, Honda CRV. You get cargo space + car like handling (well almost). My personal choice would be an X-Trail (another biased choice )
From the compact SUVs that i have driven / ridden, the Ford Escape has the most comfortable ride.
The Mazda Tribute would be a close second in terms of comfort... although this has a bit more goodies than the Escape (sunroof for the 4x2 variant, puddles lamps, steering-wheel control)
I hope someone could help me decide on this and hopefully you could give me a feedback soon as my nissan california '89 is about to go 6 feet under the ground.
.. i guess the fortuner is out .. .. i'd go for the tribute or the xtrail .. get the one with the biggest storage area .. tatanda pa yung 6 month old mo .. more stuff to lug around ..
pero lahat nung cute-utes hindi matipid sa gas. :P
ford everest kaya? of course truck chassis yun. pero diesel. and since it's ford ranger based, it's probably build like a tank. with the suspension of a tank.
Yes, the car-based small SUVs offer a nice ride. The 1st-Gen CR-V is very comfortable while the current model (8-seater) is a bit stiffer as the suspension is made sturdier to accommodate the extra passengers. RAV 4 is the most fun to look at and drive among these and has 4-wheel disc brakes unlike the others, but at the sacrifice of some interior space. X-Trail, Escape and Tribute also seem to be ok, but I'm not yet quite sure about long-term reliability.
1.) nissan x-trail: I can't find an x-trail MT, all are offered in AT. Is there an x-trail MT? A little bit expensive at P1,110,000. My budget is a little bit short.
2.) ford escape: they are not offering escape on MT either. Bat naman ganito? Pero the price is more or less reasonable at P1,080,000 pero kailangan ko lang mag stretch pa ng konti.
3.) ford everest: 4x2 seems to be a good choice and the price P1,030,000, fits well within the budget.
4.) Honda CRV 4x2 MT is around P1,040,000-1,060,000. Like the escape, I need to stretch my budget a little bit more.
5.) Mazda Tribute: All AT na naman, no MT. Medyo mabigat na price at P1,130,000. Baka abutin ako ng pasko sa pagiipon pa. ehehehe
So far, all of you concentrated on space availability and comfort. Does anyone of you have an idea on what is the average k/l of the aforesaid brands? I agree with orly_andico na ang mga cute-utes ay "nagmumumog".
I prefer MT so yung mga lumabas na AT will be taken out of the list muna. So ang mga natitira ay:
1.)Ford Everest (Pasado sa space) (sa k/l? don't have any idea)
2.)Honda CRV (More or less pasado sa space) (around 6.5k/l lang ang sa barkada ko and he's definitely complaining sa fuel)
I guess I need more models to compare at marami ang nalaglag kaagad sa "MT" criteria ko.
Thanks sa mga nag-reply!!!

1. Ford Everest-Definitely NOT have a comfort of a car.
2. Honda CRV-tama ka malakas sa gas.
check out the Sorento 2.5CRDi may Manual ito. pasok sa budget mo ito.
again my 0.02 dapat ba brand new?
above 1M marami ka nang makikitang sariwang preowned or 2nd hand
2000-02 Isuzu Troopers, Pajeros, Safaris (baka may matiyempo ka na PATROL)
X-Trail, Escape and Tribute also seem to be ok, but I'm not yet quite sure about long-term reliability.
Sir, Are you sure? Hindi porke't ford or nissan di na matibay.

CRV's "third row" seats are useless if you ask me.

Walang manual dito, IMO if your concerned with performance, the X-trail won't disappoint, it has lots of power at the lower RPM range, with an acceleration of 0-100 in around 10 secs its pretty quick.
X-trails fuel economy depending on your driving style / route / traffic conditions can range from 6.5 - 7.5km/li on the city to around 9.5 - 10 km/li on the highway.
