In general, the rule is buy the latest model you can afford - simply because newer ones are supposed to have fewer problems. However, because of the limited choices in brands, I would personally go for the Toyota. The fact that since both are more than five years old means each will have roughly the same problems. The Toyota Corolla seems to age better.

Of course, there are people out there who have good experience with Mitsubishi Lancers. I just happened to be biased because I've had more experience with Toyotas than with Mitsubishi.

consider nyo rin po ang mga ito,

- accessories
- nabangga ba?
- mga ipinaayos (nasa service manual)
- yung pang-ilalim

mas ok po siguro yung 1996 GLXi.

I'd still go for the Toyota Corolla GLi (AE101).

i'd go for the mitsubishi. mas malakas ang makina. though mas gusto ko yung toyota gli kasi madali mag hanap ng parts at madaling pabilisin in terms of engine. saka ok ang korte ng toyota.

ayaw mo ng honda?

as far as engine is concerned IMHO hindi naglalayo ang Lancer GLXi and Corolla GLi. Pareho din madali ang availability at mura ang spare parts nila.

One thing I observe with Lancers is when it hits the 5th year mark and dami nang langitngit na lumalabas sa area ng dashboard and door sidings, this is based on my previous Lancer's (I'm on my second Lancer now) and testimonies of other Lancer owners. Unlike Toyota na parang solid feel pa din.

Yan po eh aking sariling obserbasyon lang.

I should be biased on the Coralla since I had good experience on my ~10 year old Corolla.
It so happen that I have two of my friends experienced the same problem on their Corolla engine. The problem was, naghalo ang tubig at oil sa engine.
Check for any possibilities that this may happen before buying the Corolla of your choice.
